Kathmandu – Bhaktapur – Nagarkot and Chitwan Tour

The 7-day Kathmandu valley and Chitwan tour begins in the valley where you visit a number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Scattered in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur, these sites showcase Kathmandu’s rich cultural heritage, such as, its architectural marvels and the ancient Hindu and Buddhist relics. During this trip you also visit Nagarkot, a village in the hills of Bhaktapur, which is an ideal place for stunning Himalayan views. We end our tour in Chitwan, famous for Chitwan National Park, which is another World Heritage Site. In the steamy sub-tropical jungles of Chitwan we enjoy bird watching and elephant back safari, while also getting acquainted to the tribal culture of the region.

Day 01Arrival in Kathmandu – 1,300M

Upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, a representative from Rainbow Adventures will heartily welcome you. After completing your custom formalities (Visa etc.), our representatives will pick up your luggage, Just look for our representative with a Rainbow Adventures and your name on display board at the arrival gate. You will be transferred to your hotel. If the time persists, you can either visit the city or relax at the hotel.

Day 02Sightseeing in Kathmandu (1,300m):- Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Swayambhu, Boudhanath.

We start our guided tour to several of the historical and spiritual places in Kathmandu valley. The tour covers UNESCO World Heritage Sites including historical Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swoyambhunath (Buddhist Shrine), Boudhanath (the Largest Stupa in the World), and Pashupatinath (Hindu’s holiest pilgrimage site). Temples and stupas with fine art and carvings, ancient durbar, statues are the major tangible attractions of our tour.

Day 03Sightseeing in Patan and Bhaktapur and sunset views from Nagarkot

Today, we visit to two ancient cities of Kathmandu valley. Patan is one of the ancient settlements in the valley about 5 km south-east of Kathmandu city. The city has also been nicknamed as “The City of Fine Arts.” Patan Durbar Square and the city thoroughfares are full of ancient places, temples and shrines, noted for their exquisite carvings. The Patan Durbar Square is also a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site. Patan Museum inside the Durbar Square specialized in bronze statues and other religious crafts. Bhaktapur, literally meaning ‘the Town of Devotees’, is believed to have existed from the early 9th century. Bhaktapur Durbar Square was listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Monument is 1979. The town is believed to have retained some of the charm of the medieval times, which is depicted in the lifestyle of the people, old houses and artworks. At the end, we visit Nagarkot, a village in Bhaktapur which sits at 7,200 ft. above sea level, and boasts stunning Himalayan vistas. It is also renowned for sunrise and sunset views in the Himalayas. Depending on your choice, we will also visit Nagarkot for sunset.

Day 04Drive to Chitwan (815mr): 4-5 hrs.

We take an early morning breakfast and drive to Chitwan, which is located 175 km south from Kathmandu. We descend down along the winding road on the banks of the Trishuli River. The green vegetation, curious villagers and the river banks are there to marvel at. After checking in to the hotel, there will be a briefing on the activities we will be engaged in during out stay in Chitwan. We then walk on the banks of Rapti River to enjoy the sunset. In the evening, we enjoy dinner along with a brief cultural program showcasing the tribal dance, unique to the Chitwan region of Nepal.

Day 05Chitwan National Park

In the morning, we will be mounted on elephant back for a jungle safari through dense grasslands to witness wildlife in their natural habitat. After breakfast, we visit the elephant stables and even enjoy bathing the elephants. During the afternoon, we drive through the jungles followed by a canoe ride down the Rapti River. While canoeing, we may get a close look at the Gharial and Mugger crocodiles along with fresh water dolphins, otters and varieties of aquatic birds. Or, we may even go for bird watching or nature walks and come closer to a variety of wild flora and fauna. Overnight stay in Chitwan.

Day 06Drive from Chitwan to Kathmandu 127 km: 4-5 hrs.

In the morning we go bird watching in Chitwan National Park. After breakfast, we drive towards Kathmandu. Our journey will be on the Terai plains while in Chitwan and gradually to more winding road as we come closer to Kathmandu. Along the way, we can enjoy the beautiful hilly terrains and small houses. We reach Kathmandu by the evening. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Day 07Final Departure

Rainbow Adventures representative will escort you to the airport for your scheduled flights for onward journey.
