It is a lifetime experience seeing the highest peak in the world, up close in its entire splendor. Highest peak in the world, Mt. Everest (8,848m) is always the center of attraction. It is accompanied by three of the other highest peaks in the world, i.e., Lhotse (8,516m), Makalu (8,481m) and GhoOyu (8,201m). This foursome of mountains, rise to majestic heights.
Early in the morning we take a 35-minutes flight from Kathmandu to the tiny airstrip at Lukla, with beautiful scenes of high Himalayan ranges. As the guide sort and divide the load baggage to be carried by porters, we can have time for walking around. An easy walk will follow to Phakding village. Overnight stay at Phakding.
Early in the morning we continue up the banks of Dudh Koshi, crossing it twice by small suspension bridges before reaching the village of Monjo, which is the entrance of the Sagarmatha National park. From here, we descent and a gradual walk brings us to the suspension bridge over the Bhote Koshi river to Jorsalle village. This is the last village we will go through till we reach Namche Bazar. Namche is a prosperous trading town and the capital of Khumbu region. Overnight stay at a hotel in Namche.
We will spend a day in Namche Bazar resting and acclimatizing to the altitude of 3,440 meters. We have full day free. Alternatively we can make a visit to Everest View Point hotel for wonderful panoramic view. Sherpa Museum can also be visited for a knowledge of Sherpa culture and history of mountaineering. Overnight stay at a hotel in Namche.
In the morning after breakfast, we commence our trek with pleasant walk through the forest enjoying magnificent view of mountains. The great view of the mighty peaks like Everest, Lhotse, Am Dablam, Thamserku and Kwangde peak is a constant throughout the day. The trail ascends through the forest on its way to Tyangboche. The first thing that could draw your attention after reaching Tyangboche could be its big monastery. Overnight stay at Tyangboche.
Today we have a lot of descending until we arrive at Deboche. The trail ascends from there through rhododendron forest. Crossing a valley and walking through plains we reach Dingboche. Overnight stay at Dingboche.
We have to be mentally prepared for a lot of vertical gain in altitude. We walk through the alpine meadows and yak pastures to cross the Khumbu glacier. The end of the moraine of the glacier has a specifically steep and is challenging. We then continue along the rugged route to reach Lobuche where we will stay for the night.
Starting in the morning, we continue along the moraine of the glacier, with magnificent views of Kala Patthar and Pumori peaks. We have good chances for the best view of Mt. Nuptse. After lunch at Gorakshep, we hike towards Kala Patthar to observe the great sunset view over Himalayan ranges. The trail up to the Gorakshep is rocky and windy but it offers the good view of Pumori.
We continue our trek towards the Everest Base Camp and to the Khumbu Ice-Fall. The walk is quite strenuous due to the high altitude and thin air. The walk passes through rocky dunes and moraine. Everest Base Camp is lively with commotion during the high expedition season. After a grand time here, we retrace the journey back to Gorakshep for the overnight stay.
Today’s journey continues climbing to the top of famous viewpoint at Kala Patthar. After reaching the top, you will feel beaming as you achieve the moment that you have been dreaming. Kala Patthar is a small rocky peak on the southwest ridge of Mt. Pumori. The view from here is beyond imagination as the Everest looks amazing. You can also see the Everest base camp down below on the moraine of Khumbu glacier and lot of picturesque scenery. After enjoying the panoramic views we trek back to Gorakshep and then to Pheriche for overnight stay.
As we are retracing, our trek is almost all descending. Therefore, our walks will be faster than earlier and the walks will be easier. The beauty of the Himalayan terrain will never leave us all along the way. Overnight stay at Kyanjuma.
Today we will visit Hillary School, established by Sir Edmund Hillary. We will also visit a hospital run by charity. We will walk the downhill trails to reach Monju for overnight stay.
We have an easy walk today. We are heading back to Lukla from where we had started our journey. Overnight stay at a hotel in Lukla.
We take the earliest possible flight back to Kathmandu.
