This is one of our amazing 14-day trekking packages in high mountains of Nepal. Langtang Valley Trek with Ganja La Pass takes you to the famous Langtang region, and the Ganja La Pass which lies at an altitude of 5122m / 16,800ft. An interesting excursion to Tserko Ri (5,000m / 16404ft) is also made during this trek. The trek offers magnificent views of the Langtang Himalayan range. Langtang region is close to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Yet the area is as wild as any Tibetan highland. Langtang region is also famous for its Gosaikunda Lakes. Green rhododendron and bamboo forests, majestic waterfalls, and snow-capped Himalayas make the trek one of most diverse. The trek begins at the road-head, about 100 kilometer north of Kathmandu city.


We begin our adventurous trekking with a day’s drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. We go to Kyanjing Gompa, cross the mighty Ganja La Pass, and reach at the Melamchi Pul Bazar in Helambu region. Nearing the end of the trip, you will also experience beautiful paddy terraces and a number of splendid Buddhist monasteries around the delightful villages, Tharke Gyang and Sermathang, before heading back to Kathmandu.

Day 01Arrival in Kathmandu – 1,300m/4264 ft.

Upon arrival at the international airport in Kathmandu (1300M) you will be received by our representative at the arrival gate and will be transferred to your hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02Kathmandu, Patan sightseeing and trekking preparation.

The second morning after your breakfast, we start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual places in Kathmandu valley. The tour covers UNESCO World Heritage Sites including historical Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swoyambhunath (Buddhist Shrine, also called monkey temple), Boudhanath (the Largest Stupa in the World), and Pashupatinath (Hindu’s holiest pilgrimage site).
Known as a city of arts, Patan, is one of the major cities of Nepal and is best known for its rich cultural heritage, in particular its tradition of arts and crafts. After heritage sightseeing, you will meet your trekking guide for briefing to help for final preparation of the trek. Overnight at Kathmandu.

Day 03Drive to Syabrubesi (1,550 m / 5,100 ft): 145 km: 7 hrs

In the afternoon after breakfast, we drive out of Kathmandu along the north-western hills of Kathmandu. On the way we enjoy the Himalayan views and mountainous lifestyle through the terraced fields and rustic villages. After taking Lunch at the Trishuli Bazar we continue further to Dhunche, from where we descend down to Syabrubesi. Overnight stay at Syabrubesi.

Day 04Trek to Lama Hotel (2,380 m / 7830 ft.): 6 hrs.

We begin our trekking adventure in Syabrubesi. At first we follow the Langtang Khola, pass through the dense forests and cross several suspension bridges. The trail has many ups and downs but not very difficult. Overnight stay at Lama Hotel.

Day 05Trek to Langtang Village (3,430m/ 11253ft): 6/7 hrs.

The morning tea is following by the second day of the trekking. Our trail continues along dense forests. After making a steady climb through the valley, we leave the tree line behind. Enjoying the marvelous views of Langtang Lirung, we pass by water mills, prayer wheels, Chortens, with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them. Overnight stay at Langtang village.

Day 06Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870 m / 12,697 ft.): 3.5 hrs.

Immediately getting out of the village, we come across yak pastures. Along the trail, we also pass through the largest Mani wall in Nepal, which is made of stone with prayers written on them. On our course, we cross several of the wooden bridges. As we are getting into the high altitude, you might feel the thin air. Overnight stay at Kyanjin Gompa.

Day 07Excursion to Tsergo Ri (5033 m / 16,508 ft) and back to Kyanjin: 7-8 hrs

We make an excursion to Tsergo Ri which would also help us to acclimatize. The climb to Tsergo Ri (above 5,000 meters) offers a magnificently panoramic views of the Himalayas. In addition, the climb to Tsergo Ri is a challenging one and the time for climb depends upon your physical fitness and previous experiences of climbing mountains. By the evening, we return back to Kyanjin Gompa. Overnight stay at Kyanjin Gompa.

Day 08Trek to Ganja La Phedi (4,300 m / 14,104 ft): 5-6 hrs

In the morning we embark on our adventurous trekking to Ganja La Phedi. The trail crosses the Langtang River and ascends through rhododendron forests having majestic natural scenery Because of high altitude the time for arriving to our destination depends upon the season of the trekking. During the winter snow, it might take longer to cross the snow strewn path. Overnight stay at Ganja La Phedi.

Day 09Cross the Ganja La Pass (5122 m / 16,800 ft) and Trek to Keldang (4250m / 13940 ft): 6-7 hrs

Today we cross the Ganja La Pass. It would be strenuous day because Ganja La is one of the difficult passes in Nepal. Ganja La Pass is covered with snow almost throughout the year. Make the long ascent through boulders, pass several small lakes on the way and summit the Ganja La pass which is situated on a rocky moraine. Enjoy the spectacular panoramic views from the pass. Climbing up and down the pass can sometimes be tricky due to snowfall icy path. From the pass, we descend down to Keldang. Overnight stay at Keldang.

Day 10Trek to Yak Kharka 94,000 m / 13,120 ft): 5-6 hrs

Starting in the morning we trek from Keldang to Yak Kharka. From Keldang, we descend further down following a ridge line. In our 5-6 hours trek, we continue losing altitude through forests, ridges and grasslands. Overnight stay at Yak Kharka.

Day 11Trek to Tarke Gyang (2,590 m / 8497 ft): 5-6 hrs

Our trekking today will considerably lose altitude, some 1500 meters descend. The trail would be similar, except that as you descend, you will notice more vegetation around. Overnight stay at Tarke Gyang.

Day 12Trek to Sermathang (2,610 m / 8,563 ft): 3-4 hrs

At first we cross a small forest along the way which is followed by a beautiful village in Helambu. The trail makes a sweep around the wide valley and the trail ends at the pretty Sherpa village of Gangyul. The people of this village practice Drukpa Kagyu Buddhism, the same as the national religion of Bhutan. Overnight stay at Sermathang.

Day 13Trek to Melamchi Pul Bazar, Drive to Kathmandu: 3-4 hrs trek and 2 hrs drive

On our final day of trekking, we walk down to Melamchi Pul Bazar with many Sherpa villages on the way. From the Melamchi Bazar, we catch a bus to Kathmandu. Upon reaching Kathmandu, overnight at Kathmandu.

Day 14Leisure day

Spend the day in Kathmandu, to rest or explore, as per your interest. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu

Day 15Kathmandu departure or trip extensions by adding optional activities

You have option today to extend your programme. Three are many fun & exciting adventures, like Everest flight, white water rafting, wildlife safari in Chitwan national park, Pokhara excursion & paragliding or Transfer from hotel to international airport to board onward journey flight.
