Sun Koshi is one of the major tributaries of Sapta Koshi River, which is the largest river of Nepal, in terms of water flow. Literally, Sun Koshi in Nepali means, River of Gold. Sun Koshi rafting is the longest rafting trip in Nepal, a total of 270 kilometer. This rafting trip is rated as one of the world’s top ten classic river journeys.
A mere 3-hour drive from Kathmandu, the river winds through the beautiful Mahabharata range. It begins gently but progressively picks up in intensity over the trip, giving time for novice rafters and kayakers to gain experience before and make the most of the white water down drive. The rafting in the River of Gold will through some of Nepal’s most amazing countryside and Nepali villages along the way.

Take a 3 hour drive from Kathmandu to Dolalghat. The first day, we will have only 3 hours rafting and will riverside camping for the night stay.
We begin today’s adventure in the river after breakfast. The whole day’s rafting will give us experience of nice rapids and scenery around. Overnight camping at Tama Koshi river side.
Today we enter Tama Koshi and during the course in the river, we reach Kerabari village. Overnight camping at riverside.
It is about 5 hour rafting from Kerabari to Rai Ghat. We experience nice rapids and natural scenery around.
We raft from Rai Ghat to Rhino Rock, Rusuwa village, which will take almost the whole day.
Rhino Rock to Waterfall and onwards, which has an experience like ‘Jungle corridor Roller coaster’ on the way.
Waterfall to Tribeni experiencing extreme rapids and breathtaking scenery.
A short rafting will take us at put-out point at Chatara. After getting out of the river at Chatara, we have options. Depending on your interests, we either drive to Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve or to Chitwan National Park for an excellent Safari or drive back to Kathmandu (about 10 hours of road journey) or drive to Biratnagar to take a flight to Kathmandu.
